Shadow Falls

A few months ago my friend started to read this series called Shadow falls and she became obsessed with it even now after finishing the series she is still into the series. She even sent an email to C.C Hunter, the author of the Shadow Falls series if she would write more books to the already completed. She would talk nothing of the book and it would get on my nerves because she would not shut up about it. She even kept bugging me to read the books and at that time I thought that Shadow Falls would be nothing but a boring and generic love story about a normal girl learning about a supernatural world and having a love triangle with some not-quite-human love interest.

But no, I was very wrong because over a week ago when I was so very bored and felt very lively that day to read another apocalyptic themed book I thought why not, maybe I should read the book I might even like it. I loved it. I was so blown away because it was amazing and nothing like what perceived it to be. I mean it still had a girl finding out about a hidden supernatural world and there is still had a love triangle between a werewolf and a half-fae (yes! not a vampire, no Twilighting here!). The character Kylie Galen isn’t actually human but the thing is they don’t know what she is because the only thing that isn’t normal about her is that she can see ghosts. But I think that was truly original idea from the author when she doesn’t reveal the identity of Kylie’s species because it keeps the reader on edge from trying to guess what she is. I’m already on the third book Taken at Dusk and I still have no idea what species she is.

What I also like about this book is that Kylie isn’t perfect or popular which makes more of a real person. Instead she is a drifter and has no real placing in this world and even has no placing the supernatural world which would make anyone feel completely depressed but she keeps going on because she wants to find out what she is and along the story I presume that she is also finding out who she is inside and the kind of person she wants to be to others.

I admit I was wrong about this series which my friend took real pleasure from telling me so. But I was glad that I didn’t follow through with my misconception because if I did I would have never known about Shadow falls and Kylie as well. Misconception and books can keep you from finding out a great story and my message to you today which is the cliché of clichés but still utterly true is never judge a book by it’s cover.

The Kite Runner

I have finished reading it. I have already finished the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. It only took me about a month to finally finish the book but it only took me about a few hours to read the entire book. It was such a good book I have no idea why I kept it for a month to read through 15 pages and finish the other 300 in a few pages. But I guess I didn’t expect the book to be so good and I just left it there. Which was really stupid because it was so good. The only thing I wished that happened before I started to read the book was someone to tell me about the apart when Assef did that to Hassan. Because I was so shocked that I had to put down the book to process the information.

Otherwise I loved that book but I really didn’t expect it to be so sad. Which makes me sound stupid again because on the back of my book kept saying tragic and heartbreaking but I was never the kind of person to read labels. Either way I will that I did get weepy especially after what I read to what the Taliban did to Hassan.  I was also very upset to what happen to Hassan’s son because that is just cruel irony there really it was very cruel. And if right now you have no idea what I’m talking about then go get the book and figure it out because you are missing out on a lot.

Reading this book actually made me so happy and so proud of myself because I haven’t finished a book in about 2 months. Which for me is like giving up chocolate or breathing! Sometimes I am even amazed to think that I went that long without a proper read since it wasn’t before 2 months I was finishing several books a week. But either way, I am so happy because I think this book has given me back my mojo because I got a new a book and I’m loving it . Can you guess what it is? I’ll tell you it’s called A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
